Role, profile & expectations

Before we hit you with the usual shopping list of skills that we developers all know by heart (wanted: FE developer with SQL skills, right...) we want to tell you about the role and what we expect from you.

As you've probably seen from our LinkedIn page, we're a company that's been around for just over a year: we're in a growth phase and actively looking for new people to add to the team, which currently consists of four people.

What we're looking for, first and foremost, is a person who becomes part of the family — someone we can trust, who believes in us and helps us grow this company, eventually becoming a reference point for other colleagues too. It's definitely a long and demanding journey ahead, and not something that happens overnight, but we'll do our best to make it stimulating and fun as well!

So we're looking for a developer who isn't a total beginner but has strong technical skills, who is self-driven and able to structure their own work — and why not, the work of others in the near future. Someone who doesn't freeze in front of a problem but finds a solid and effective solution that leaves everyone impressed.

With that said, here's the shopping list :)

Work location

Full remote, but we'd obviously love it if you were near Bologna so we could meet up at the office for a coffee and maybe some pair programming sessions.

Education

A degree in computer science is certainly a nice calling card, but even if you come from a completely different background and believe you have what it takes for this role, we're happy to consider your application.

Required skills

• 2–4 years of experience as a Backend Developer
• Knowledge of Java (8+), Spring Boot, Hibernate / JPA
• Knowledge of REST/SOAP protocols and JSON/XML serialization
• Familiarity with authorization and authentication concepts
• Knowledge and experience with one or more relational databases and therefore proficiency with SQL
• Knowledge of Git and its main workflows

Nice to have

• Experience with tools like Jira, Trello, and Google Drive Suite
• Experience / knowledge of JUnit testing
• Experience / knowledge of Docker
• Experience / knowledge of AWS Cloud
• Experience / knowledge of Elasticsearch
• Experience / knowledge with non-relational databases
• Experience / knowledge of a front-end framework such as Angular, React, Vue, or jQuery
• Experience with code optimization and backend performance
• Experience with task runners and/or ETL scripting

Desired soft skills

• Ability to organize and carry out your work independently, also gathering information from colleagues
• Ability to write well-structured and documented code
• Ability to debug code written by colleagues and identify issues
• Good written and spoken comprehension of Italian and English

Contract

We'll evaluate on a case-by-case basis, considering your experience and current contract situation to craft the best offer. We're also open to freelance collaborations!
